Fluorescent White Common Opal Rough Specimen from Turkey

Beautifully lustrous milky white common opal specimen that is fluorescent with short ultraviolet light.

With 254nm short wave UV, it fluoresces a vibrant green. A good quality, filtered, short wave lamp is needed for best results. (inexpensive multi-function UV lamps will not yield good results)

If you have a 365nm long wave lamp, you will see white and blue fluorescence that is not as bright as short wave.

This piece is from İnönü District, Eskişehir Province, Central Anatolia Region, Turkey.
